Enjoying a Night of Jazz
The Brookfield Jazz Society (BJS) moved from the Cozy Cottage at Irish Times Pub into The Jazz Room at Sawa's Old Warsaw in July 2014. Since then there have been a lot of changes as the BJS grows and continues to support Jazz in the area. For those of you who have never (or maybe not recently) attended a BJS Meeting or Live Jazz Event and not sure what to expect, then please read this article to learn more about how we hold our meetings/events each week.
The regular schedule for the BJS is as follows for both meetings and live jazz events:
6:00 p.m. - All-you-care-to-eat Buffet is available upstairs (West Banquet Room)
6:45 p.m. - Make your way to The Jazz Room (Lower Level)
7:00 p.m. - Meeting begins with announcements and introductions
7:15 p.m. - Presentation (1st half) or Live Jazz (1st set) begins
8:15 p.m. - Brief intermission with Main Raffle
8:30 p.m. - 2nd half of Presentation or 2nd Set of Live Jazz begins
8:50 p.m. - Last call for trips to the buffet
9:30 p.m. - Evening concludes, final announcements made
Note that we have a dedicated server (Beata) assigned to The Jazz Room to take drink orders throughout the evening. A Carry Out option is available for those who wish to make one trip to the buffet and just pay for what you care to eat. A Carry Out container will be provided and can be brought with you into The Jazz Room. Otherwise, it is recommended that those who wish to enjoy the All-you-care-to-eat Buffet to arrive early to eat upstairs to avoid making any unnecessary trips going up and down the stairs. Bathrooms are located on the Main Level as well as adjacent to The Jazz Room.
Out of respect for our Presenters and Performers we do ask that you refrain from excessive talking during the presentations and live jazz events. It is also asked that you do not carry on coversations during the intermission as the announcements and Main Raffle are being conducted so that everyone can hear the speaker.
For those who wish to attend a meeting/presentation we do ask for a $2 donation to help keep the BJS going. During the Live Jazz Event there is a $10 Cover Charge for all Guests or $7 Cover Charge for BJS Members with they show their BJS Membership Card. Tickets for the Main Raffle will be sold in advance due to the time constraints of the intermission.
